I ran across this song on my playlist today. It's from the soundtrack to Closer. I remember when the film and the song came out. Both are amazing. But every time I hear this song, I am compelled to close my eyes. If you know me, you know that's not strange. I love songs with lyrics and real musical instruments in them. All I need is a guitar and piano and a storyteller and I'm good. I'd go into my thing for James Taylor, but I will spare you guys (but I LOVE him!). Anyway, this song, The Blowers Daughter, really does it for me. It's a combination of the strings in the music and the lyrics and the voices on these guys! The chorus is so intense: "I can't take my eyes off you" repeated like a million times. Then later, "I can't take my mind off you." I never listen to it once...always on repeat like 10 times or more (not exaggerating--I'm listening to it right now...for the past 20-25 minutes). I own the Closer DVD and the official music video for this song is a bonus on there. The first time I watched it, I played that video over and over again for like an hour. Is that strange? I can be sometimes, I think. It's just a really beautiful and really sad song. What musicians--real musicians--do, is such a gift. If you haven't heard this song before, listen to it and (hopefully you will) see what I mean.

Have you read the play "Closer?" Closer is one of my favorite movies, the soundtrack is phenomenal. I love all the actors, especially Clive Owens..but did you know they did the play before the movie and Clive and Jude switched roles which seems weird and unfitting. And well..let's just say the ending of the play is different than the movie.

Wow! No, I haven't read the play, but will have to. The film is so twisted, I bet reading it would be awesome. And a different ending?! I definitely have to check it out...

I love Damien Rice. I found him when they featured one of his songs on the show Jericho. Check out the song 9 Crimes and let me know what you think.

OMG, yes I love that song. The video is strange, but I love what they do with their lyrics and music.

This is one of my all time favorite songs. It was in the prelude for our ceremony. I too put it on repeat when I listen to it. But you probably already knew that. We are alike in our strangeness when it comes to music.

@Adriane, I'm not surprised. lol Surprised that we never talked about it--or maybe we did and I forgot?
@Fattie, I've listened to 9 Crimes like a million times by now. I just need them to keep singing together and letting their voices overlap like that. Their music is so dreamy. I bet I'd cry if I listened to them perform in person.

Me too. I cried when I first heard 9 Crimes, as they used it in the death scene of a regular on the show.
Love it!! :D
Great idea on the pizza. I love making my own at home, as I use this gluten-free crust that still tastes awesome and then I can control all of the ingredients. Bob ordered the pizza tonight and it was a Mexican-style pizza. It was delicious but was like a seven-layer dip on top of a thick-crust pizza, so you know it was loaded in calories. And soooooo good.
