[ Subway Sandwich Artist (SA) sounds like Speedy Gonzales...you know, that Mexican mouse from the cartoons? ]

SA: Hello. What can I get for you?
ME: Six inch BMT on wheat, please?
SA: Cheese?
ME: Provolone. Could you toast that for me, please?
SA: Yes, sure!
ME: Thanks.
SA: What would you like on this?
ME: Hot mustard, black olives, banana peppers and tomatoes.
SA: Combo?
ME: Yes, thank you.
SA: To go?
ME: Yes.
SA: $8.16. What way are you going?
ME: Huh?
SA: What way are you going? When you leave here?
ME: Back towards William Cannon?
SA: Can I get a ride? I need a ride?
ME: With me?!
SA: Yes, I need a ride. Sign here please.
ME: I'm sorry. I don't think so. I don't know you.
SA: It's me, I'm the Subway Guy! No? That's fine. Thanks anyway.
ME: Ok.

That old familiar feeling

It's that time again...

I'm needing to go somewhere hot. Some place tropical. We're going back to St. Vincent this summer to visit Billy's folks. July seems so far away right now.

Austin finally decided to get cold and for the past few days it's been freezing, wet, dark and yucky. And I'm sneezing-coughing-aching-stuffyhead-nofeveryetthankgod sick.

I'm going down to TJMaxx for the rest of my lunch break. Shopping always makes me feel better.

Just Because

I was listening to the Love Jones soundtrack today and this song came on. This song will FOR.E.VER be The Darious and Nina song to me. I remember when Girlfriends made it William and Joan's song when they were supposed to be a couple or whatever (glad that nightmare's over).

Anyway, the song is Duke Ellington's A Sentimental Mood. I don't love jazz music, but I love this song. Click HERE  to listen if you want.

Dear God,

Please cast out whatever evil spirit posessed me to paint 10 foot ceilings. Next time, please give me the wisdom to hire a professional. Now that I've finished the ceiling, and the ringing in my ears has stopped, please give me strength to finish painting my dining room walls. Amen.

Saturdayness

We went to our church's annual Valentine's Day dance last night. I almost thought I couldn't go becasue of this weird eczema thing that popped up on my neck...thank God for drugs and doctors! I actually got through the night without having a drink too. My social anxiety didn't show it's ugly face last night, which was awesome (maybe I'm growing out of it? ) The dj did a great job...we danced most of the night after dinner. I couldn't ask for a better dance partner than Billy. We also finally got to meet Brotha Buck and his wife officially. He was actually my blog buddy before I realized we went to the same church. I only met him there once, briefly after church, but we never got to talk. I learned his real name and realized how closely he and his wife resemble his comics...he's a great artist and writer. Anyway, Billy and I didn't go to bed until about 2 a.m., so this morning has been slow...and nice.

But now it's time to get to Saturdayin'...

I have about 15 more minutes before I get up to start cleaning my house. I've already read a couple of chapters of Waiting to Exhale, had breakfast, watched 106 and Park Freestyle Friday re-run and a couple of episodes of Wild 'N Out. I'm having coffee  and was about to watch Mad Hot Ballroom again, but I have to get some housework done. Today is the day for Stella and Okie to get their asses washed too. If I get enough done today maybe I can start painting my dining room, which has been taped off for a whole week now--I was going to paint last week while Billy was in Japan, but got sick before I could start. I'll share before and afters when I'm done.

Totally unrelated tasty bit: I discovered The Dog Whisperer blog! SCORE! I'm gonna ask for advice on how to get my huge 80 pound dogs to stop rushing people when they come into the house.

Free Trial Mania

I just finished free trials of Blockbuster.com and Netflix. I figured 1 month free with Blockbuster and 2 weeks with Netflix, why not? In all, I think I watched about 20 films.

The movies came in handy. Billy had a couple of trips last month (Boston & Japan), so I had plenty of time (and the TV) to myself. Between the movies and my tv shows I got very little reading done. Netflix or Blockbuster.com are really cool services, but I won't be a paid subscriber to either anytime soon.

Prince to perform on SNL this weekend!

I cussed in front of Girl Scouts today.

I'm pumping gas and decide that while the tank fills up, I'll clean the trash out of my front seat. I figure I can hold my car key in my hand and control my release when I drop the trash in the garbage can, but I can't.

I don't know why I didn't just put my key in my pocket.

Anyway, I realize that my keys are going into the trash can as they're in mid-dump and as they hit the can I'm like, "Shiiiiiiiiiiiit Noooooooo!" Then, recalling that I'm in public, I pull myself together, look around for any witnesses and there are two Girl Scouts and a mom camped out about 5 yards away from me...looking very uncomfortable. As I trash-fish for my key, I'm a little embarrassed, but mostly I just feel bad because I wasn't raised to cuss like that, and you just don't cuss in front of kids.

I go over and apologize to the girls and the mom...tell them I'm sorry they had to hear that and that I should practice more control and not make outbursts like that. Then I buy two boxes of cookies...Thin Mints and Caramel Delights. I try to make smalltalk with the mom while one of the girls counts out my change, but I can tell she's not feeling me.
